International Women’s Day 2024

Thursday, 14 March 2024

Friday 8th March 2024 is International Women’s Day.

Here at West Midlands Railway IWD is celebrated every day, every moment, every second. We celebrate and support women on the network every chance we get.

Did you know?

The 4 Area Managers across our network are women. These iconic women play crucial roles in keeping our railway network running daily.

These women are;

Simone Carter (Snow Hill)

Teresa Woodward (Wolverhampton)

Zoe Hodgins (Cross City)

Rebbecca Stone (Walsall)

These are just a few women across our network who do amazing and outstanding things every single day.

IWD takes place on 8 March every year to celebrate women’s achievements from the past, the present and paves the way for women in the future. It is a day to raise awareness of women’s equality and why equality is important in society.

*The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion.

When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.

And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

West Midlands Railway collaborated with Heart Community Rail Partnership in November at Snow Hill station, WMT team gathered signatures and pledges in support of ending violence against women and girls.

White Ribbon is a charity who's mission is to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes. We work with men and boys to change long-established, and harmful, attitudes, systems and behaviours around masculinity that perpetuate inequality and violence.
